What are the yard sign rules for a house in Rochester Hills?
A single-family home in Rochester Hills may display up to two temporary freestanding signs of 6 square feet each, no taller than 7 feet, plus two wall signs of 2 square feet each (§ 134-9).
Permits are usually not needed. A sign under 12 square feet needs no permit, one per address (§ 134-4(1)a.5). Larger temporary signs need a permit and may be displayed for 30 days at a time, up to four times a year, with a 30-day gap between displays (§ 134-9).
Permanent signs are not an option at a house. Monument signs are not permitted (§ 134-5(1)) and wall signs are not permitted (§ 134-6(1)) at single-family dwellings. During the election window, the aggregate limit for temporary freestanding signs rises to 64 square feet (§ 134-9).
