Can I park in my front yard in Rochester Hills?
Only in a driveway or a garage. Rochester Hills does not allow front-yard parking for single- and two-family homes outside those areas (§ 138-11.102.D). Required parking must sit on the premises, on a parking strip, in a driveway, in a garage, or a combination of these. Parking on the lawn does not qualify.
One district is stricter. In R-5, parking is not allowed in front or street-facing yards at all, and garage doors may not face a street (§ 138-6.700.H).
If the driveway is too small, you can widen it. Allowed surfaces include asphalt, concrete, brick pavers, gravel, and aggregate (§ 138-11.102.D). For placement questions, contact Planning and Economic Development at 248-656-4660.
