How many parking spaces does a house need in Rochester Hills?
A single-family house in Rochester Hills needs two off-street parking spaces per dwelling unit (§ 138-11.204). The same ratio applies to two-family dwellings. The spaces must be on the premises, on a parking strip, in a driveway, in a garage, or a combination of these (§ 138-11.102.D). A two-car garage, or a garage plus driveway, meets the requirement for most homes.
For comparison, multiple-family housing needs 1.5 spaces per unit with two bedrooms or fewer, 2 spaces per unit with three or more bedrooms, plus 0.5 visitor spaces per unit. Garage, carport, and driveway spaces do not count toward the visitor minimum (§ 138-11.204).
