An attached garage in Birmingham may take up no more than 50% of the street-facing width of the house (§ 4.75). The standard is aimed at keeping garages from dominating the front of the home.

Two more requirements apply (§ 4.75):

• The garage must be set back at least 5 feet behind the front facade of the house.
• Garage doors are limited to a maximum width of 9 feet each.
