What zoning applies to newly annexed land in Forney?
Newly annexed property is automatically zoned Agricultural (AG) on an interim basis (Sec. 6.1). No building permit may issue for anything beyond a use permitted in AG until the City Council formally assigns a permanent zoning district, a process the Council must begin within 180 days of annexation and that follows the same notice and public hearing procedure as any other zoning amendment (Sec. 6.1, Sec. 6.4.A). Landowners can apply for permanent zoning at the same time as, or shortly after, the annexation petition, though the annexation itself cannot be made conditional on getting a particular zoning classification (Sec. 6.3).
