Can I build a fence?
Yes, subject to Sec. 8-35. For homes, a front street yard fence is capped at 3 feet, or 6 feet for a view fence; other yards allow up to 8 feet. Nonresidential street yards carry the same 3 and 6 foot limits, and industrial sites may go to 10 feet outside street yards. Fences must show a finished face to the street, stay out of sight visibility triangles at intersections, and use rust-resistant metal, masonry, or concrete posts. Some districts add their own fence maintenance rules (for example Sec. 2-13(d)(2) in SF-R). Start by confirming the zoning district on the city's interactive map (maps.roundrocktexas.gov/cityview) or with Planning and Development Services at 512-218-5428. This pack covers incorporated Round Rock only; ETJ and unincorporated county land have no municipal zoning.
