Accessory dwelling units in Kyle, TX

What the Kyle zoning ordinance says about accessory dwelling units, district by district. Section numbers link to the official ordinance.

All districts

Chapter 53 contains no general accessory dwelling unit authorization. Accessory structures in residential districts are limited to rear yards, may not exceed the primary structure height or 20 feet, may not exceed half the principal structure's square footage in aggregate, and district use lists limit dwellings to the principal uses stated (Secs. 53-33(r), 53-33(o)). Some districts expressly bar accessory dwelling use (Sec. 53-632(2)e for HS). Second floor residential is permitted by right in NC and CC (Secs. 53-665, 53-672). Ask the Planning Department whether staff will treat a proposed secondary dwelling as permitted on a specific lot before designing one. Confirm the current text and any overlay, PUD condition, or plat note with the Kyle Planning Department before relying on this cell.
