What is the minimum lot size in Royal Oak?
It depends on your district. Royal Oak's residential minimums:
- One-Family Residential (1F): 6,000 square feet, with 50 feet of width on an interior lot, 60 feet on a corner lot, and 100 feet of depth (§ 770-34D).
- One-Family Large Lot (1FL): 13,000 square feet, 70 feet of width, 100 feet of depth (§ 770-35D).
- Two-Family Residential (2F): 9,000 square feet, with the same 50/60 width and 100-foot depth (§ 770-36D).
These letter labels are shorthand. The ordinance names districts without assigning codes (§ 770-19), so go by the official names on city documents.
There is no public GIS zoning lookup for Royal Oak. The official zoning maps are static PDFs on the city website, and the reliable way to confirm your district is to call the planning division at 248-246-3280 with your address.
