How much parking is required?

The specific ratio depends on the use and is set in the Schedule of Uses table in UDC 2.07.C (for example single family dwellings need 2 spaces per unit, and nonresidential and institutional uses carry their own use-specific ratios). Across all districts, in the SF and TH districts at least 2 parking spaces must sit behind the front building line and be enclosed in the main or an accessory building, plus 2 more paved spaces behind the front property line for stacking, and all required spaces must be at least 9 feet wide and 20 feet long (UDC 2.10.B.5 to 6). Nonresidential head-in spaces must be at least 9 feet wide and 20 feet long, and parallel spaces at least 8 feet wide and 22 feet long (UDC 2.10.C.4). Restaurants get a 50 percent reduction on parking required for outdoor dining area (UDC 2.10.C.14). Required parking must be paved concrete or a similar impervious surface; asphalt, gravel, and crushed rock are prohibited except as an approved temporary surface, and the Agricultural district may use washed gravel for agricultural parking (UDC 2.10.B.3, C.2, C.15). Start by confirming the zoning district on the Town's MapLink zoning map (pr6834.zoninghub.com/zoningmap.aspx) or with the Planning Division at 972-346-3502. This pack covers incorporated Prosper only; the ETJ and unincorporated Collin or Denton County land have no municipal zoning.
