How much parking is required?

Parking minimums (and, for many commercial uses, maximums) are set by land use in Table 6.4-A, not by district. Detached and attached dwellings need 2 spaces per unit minimum with no stated maximum, plus 10 percent extra for guest parking on attached dwellings. Apartment dwellings need 1 space per unit minimum and 3 per unit maximum. Most office and retail uses run 2 to 4 spaces per 1,000 square feet, and several uses (hospital, large recreation facilities, most public/institutional uses) require an individualized parking study instead of a fixed ratio. Where parking can be located on the lot is separately controlled by Table 6.3-A: dwellings on lots narrower than 60 feet are limited to rear or side-and-rear yard parking, while CB and BRT/HI also allow unrestricted placement. Bicycle parking is required for most uses under Table 6.5-A.
