Permitted vehicle parking locations (rear yard only, side-and-rear yard, front-yard restricted, or unrestricted) vary by use category and district under Table 6.3-A; detached and attached dwellings on lots narrower than 60 feet are limited to rear or side-and-rear yard parking. Minimum and maximum parking ratios by land use are set in Table 6.4-A: for example detached/attached dwellings need 2 spaces per unit minimum with no maximum, apartment dwellings need 1 space per unit minimum and 3 per unit maximum, and most office/retail uses run 2 to 4 spaces per 1,000 square feet. Bicycle parking is required for most uses under Table 6.5-A unless exempted.

RR — Rural Residential

Detached and attached dwellings: minimum 2 spaces per unit, no maximum, plus 10 percent for guest parking on attached dwellings (Table 6.4-A). Vehicle parking location follows Table 6.3-A: on lots narrower than 60 feet, parking is limited to the rear yard or side-and-rear yard; front-yard and unrestricted parking are not permitted for these lots.

SR — Suburban Residential

Detached and attached dwellings: minimum 2 spaces per unit, no maximum, plus 10 percent for guest parking on attached dwellings. Vehicle parking location follows Table 6.3-A: on lots narrower than 60 feet, parking is limited to rear or side-and-rear yards.

NR — Neighborhood Residential

Detached and attached dwellings: minimum 2 spaces per unit, no maximum, plus 10 percent for guest parking on attached dwellings. Vehicle parking location follows Table 6.3-A.

NCR — Neighborhood Center Residential

Detached and attached dwellings: minimum 2 spaces per unit, no maximum, plus 10 percent for guest parking on attached dwellings. Apartment dwellings: minimum 1 space per unit, maximum 3 per unit. Vehicle parking location follows Table 6.3-A.

MXR — Mixed-Use Residential

Detached and attached dwellings: minimum 2 spaces per unit, no maximum, plus 10 percent for guest parking on attached dwellings. Apartment dwellings: minimum 1 space per unit, maximum 3 per unit. NMX — Neighborhood Mixed-Use

Parking ratios follow the use-based Table 6.4-A (for example 2 per 1,000 sq ft minimum, 4 per 1,000 sq ft maximum for most office/service and retail uses). Vehicle parking location in NMX/DMX permits rear yard and side-and-rear yard parking but not front-yard or unrestricted parking (Table 6.3-A).

DMX — Downtown Mixed-Use

Parking ratios follow the use-based Table 6.4-A. Vehicle parking location in DMX permits rear yard and side-and-rear yard parking but not front-yard or unrestricted parking (Table 6.3-A).

RMX — Regional Mixed-Use

Parking ratios follow the use-based Table 6.4-A. Vehicle parking location in RMX/IVMX permits rear, side-and-rear, and front-yard-restricted parking, but not unrestricted parking (Table 6.3-A).

CB — Community Business

Parking ratios follow the use-based Table 6.4-A. CB is the only Commercial & Mixed-Use district where Table 6.3-A permits unrestricted parking placement in addition to rear, side-and-rear, and front-yard-restricted parking.

IVMX — Innovation Village Mixed-Use

Parking ratios follow the use-based Table 6.4-A (for example 1 per 3,000 sq ft for agriculture/manufacturing/distribution uses). Vehicle parking location in RMX/IVMX permits rear, side-and-rear, and front-yard-restricted parking, but not unrestricted parking (Table 6.3-A).

BRT — Business and Research Technology

Parking ratios follow the use-based Table 6.4-A. BRT/HI is, along with CB, the only Employment/Campus grouping where Table 6.3-A allows unrestricted parking placement in addition to rear, side-and-rear, and front-yard-restricted parking.

HI — Heavy Industrial

Parking ratios follow the use-based Table 6.4-A. BRT/HI allows unrestricted, rear, side-and-rear, and front-yard-restricted parking placement under Table 6.3-A.
