How do I request a variance?
Apply to Frisco's Board of Adjustment, a five-member board established by the City Charter, which is authorized to grant variances from the Zoning Ordinance's terms, standards, and criteria under the procedures in Subsection 6.09 (Variance Procedures). The Board can also grant a special exception for a Building Official's error under Subsection 6.10. Board decisions are final unless appealed to district court within 10 days after the decision is filed in the Office of the Board, under Chapter 211 of the Texas Local Government Code. The specific evidentiary standard applied (for example unique hardship, no self-created hardship) is stated in Subsection 6.09 itself, which was not fetched in full this session; treat the precise standard as review-gated. Start at friscotexas.gov/607/Board-of-Adjustment or call Frisco Planning and Zoning at 972-292-5301 for the current application and hearing schedule. This pack covers incorporated Frisco only.
