Variances and appeals in Frisco, TX

What the Frisco zoning ordinance says about variances and appeals, district by district. Section numbers link to the official ordinance.

All districts

The Board of Adjustment, a five-member board established by the City Charter, is authorized to grant a variance from Zoning Ordinance terms, standards, and criteria under the procedures in Subsection 6.09 (Variance Procedures). The Board can also grant a special exception for Building Official error under Subsection 6.10. Board decisions are final unless appealed to district court within 10 days after the decision is filed in the Office of the Board, per Chapter 211 of the Texas Local Government Code. The specific evidentiary standard the Board applies (for example unique hardship, no self-created hardship, minimum variance necessary) is stated in Subsection 6.09 itself, which this session could not fetch in full; exact procedural detail beyond what is stated here is review-gated. Confirm Subsection 6.09 and current Board of Adjustment application procedures at friscotexas.gov/607/Board-of-Adjustment before advising on a variance request.
