How close to the property line can I put a pool in Macomb Township?

An unenclosed swimming pool, above ground or in ground, must keep at least 7.5 feet from any side property line, 6 feet from the rear property line, and 10 feet from other buildings not associated with the pool (Sec. 10.0311.E.6.c). Pools are rear-yard construction and may not sit in any recorded easement (Sec. 10.0311.E.6.e).

Two helpful notes: decks and pools are exempt from the maximum lot coverage percentage in the single-family districts (for example Sec. 10.0704.E in R-1), and pool fences follow the Michigan Residential Code plus the fence ordinance, which allows pool enclosure fences up to 6 feet, at least 3.5 feet from any property line and 15 feet from any street property line, never in an easement (Code of Ordinances Sec. 14-27.a.8). Pool filters and heaters belong behind the rear wall of the house or, on a practical difficulty finding, in a side yard screened and 3.5 feet off the line (Sec. 10.0354).
