How big can my business sign be in Shelby Township?

For a single business on its own site in C-1 through C-4, the wall sign is capped at 50 square feet, and you get one ground sign whose size depends on your road: from 20 square feet on a 2-lane, 25 to 30 mph road in O-1, O-2, or C-1, up to 110 square feet on a 4-lane, 45 to 50 mph road in C-2, C-3, C-4, L-M, or H-M, with all ground signs capped at 12 feet tall (Section 5.24.B.2.n, o; Table 5.24.B.2.e). Shopping center tenants get wall signs up to 32 square feet. Pylon signs are prohibited (Section 5.24.B.2.c).

Industrial buildings scale by frontage: 50 square feet for the first 20 feet of building frontage plus 25 more per additional 20 feet, up to 200 square feet (Section 5.24.B.2.q). Every sign observes the centerline setback table (for example 70 feet from an arterial centerline) and the 25 foot corner clear-vision triangle (Section 5.24.D.3).

Prohibited everywhere: flashing, moving, or inflatable signs, roof signs, banners outside approved temporary signage, and off-premises advertising except freeway billboards in H-M (Section 5.24.C). Electronic message boards are allowed in the commercial and industrial districts within your normal sign area, limited to half the sign face, with 8 second minimum holds (Section 5.24.B.2.r). In the C-6 Shelby Center district, an entirely different sign code applies (Table 3.18.L.9.vi).
