Do I need special approval for my use?

Several paths trigger extra approval in Kyle: outdoor uses and live music in CBD-1, CBD-2, and RS need a conditional use permit approved by four affirmative votes of the planning and zoning commission after mailed, posted, and published notice (Sec. 53-419(2)); article VI conditional uses follow Secs. 53-1046 to 53-1048; property in a CU overlay area needs a conditional use permit under Secs. 53-891 to 53-896; historic landmarks and district properties need a certificate of appropriateness (Sec. 53-836); and PUD land follows its approved development plan (Secs. 53-699 to 53-727). Single-family detached homes in R-1-A also require a conditional use permit (Sec. 53-111). Kyle regulates zoning inside its incorporated city limits only; Texas counties do not zone, and the ETJ has no municipal zoning. Confirm the district, any overlay or PUD condition, and current ordinance text with the Kyle Planning Department before design, purchase, leasing, or permitting decisions.
