Can I run a home business here?
Yes, as a customary home occupation, permitted in every residential district. Only family members who live in the home may work in the business; the space used cannot exceed 25 percent of the dwelling's floor area; at most one non-illuminated sign of 1 square foot or less is allowed; the home must keep its residential look with no exterior commercial appeal or storage; no offensive noise, smoke, dust, odor, heat, or glare may extend past the property line; the business must run entirely inside the dwelling (no accessory building); no stock or merchandise may be sold or kept on site; only ordinary household-type equipment may be used; and the business cannot generate traffic that creates a hazard or disturbance. Confirm your zoning district with Development Services, Planning and Zoning (972-736-2416). This pack covers incorporated Princeton only; ETJ and unincorporated Collin County land have no municipal zoning.
