Can I run a home business here?

Yes, within the home occupation standards of Sec. 158.217(F), and after obtaining a business tax receipt from the City. The business must stay clearly incidental to the dwelling's residential use, with no exterior sign of commercial activity and no stock displayed or sold on-site beyond items made on the premises or used in the occupation. Up to two employees or independent contractors may work at the home-based business without living there (fully remote employees don't count against that cap). The use cannot generate objectionable noise, fumes, odors, dust, electrical interference, or above-normal traffic, and business vehicles must park legally, not in the right-of-way or on unimproved surfaces. Real estate brokers licensed under Chapter 475, F.S. get a specific carve-out allowing up to two additional licensed sales associates. Start with the Planning and Zoning Department at 772-871-5212 to apply for the business tax receipt.
