Can I run a home-based business in Maricopa?
Yes, subject to the home occupation standards in MCC 18.120.120. The business must fit within one-quarter of the floor area of the principal building and any accessory building, and the dwelling or accessory building cannot be altered externally so the home occupation is recognizable from the street. No street-visible sign advertising the business is allowed. The home occupation is capped at 5 additional daily trips on average per work-week (including deliveries), may not need extra off-street parking, and cannot reduce the required number of covered parking spaces. No equipment or process may create off-premises noise, vibration, glare, fumes, odor, or electrical interference, and total motor horsepower on site is capped at 1 combined horsepower. A zoning permit is required. Confirm your district and the current standards with Development Services (520-568-9098) before starting a home business.
