Can I park an RV or boat in my driveway in Macomb Township?
Only briefly. No recreational boat, RV, motor home, off-road vehicle, personal watercraft, or trailer carrying one may be parked or stored in a residential driveway for more than 24 hours (Sec. 10.0338). Storage beyond 24 hours is also barred from the front and side yards of residential lots, which as written leaves the rear yard as the storage location on a residential parcel.
Related limits: the required front yard may hold only an operable passenger vehicle on a driveway (Sec. 10.0318), unlicensed motor vehicles may not be kept in residential districts at all (Sec. 10.0337), and vehicles over 20,000 pounds GVW may not park on residential streets where they create a traffic hazard (Sec. 10.0338). The ordinance does not spell out surfacing or screening standards for rear-yard RV storage, so confirm placement details with the Building Department before pouring a pad.
