Can I build a fence?
Yes, subject to UDC 2.11.B.6. In a residential district, a fence or wall behind the required front yard line is capped at 8 feet. A fence within the required front yard of a single family lot is capped at 4 feet, except a single family lot of 1 acre or larger may have a front yard fence up to 8 feet if built of wrought iron or decorative tubular steel. No fence taller than 2.5 feet may sit within the sight visibility triangle where an alley meets a street. Screening walls required between a nonresidential or multifamily use and adjacent residential-designated property must be at least 8 feet of solid masonry (UDC 2.11.B.1), with a narrower 8-foot cedar board-on-board option allowed for some Downtown Prosper properties. Start by confirming the zoning district on the Town's MapLink zoning map (pr6834.zoninghub.com/zoningmap.aspx) or with the Planning Division at 972-346-3502. This pack covers incorporated Prosper only; the ETJ and unincorporated Collin or Denton County land have no municipal zoning.
