Can I build a fence?

Yes, within the UDC 10.408 standards: residential front yard fences up to 3.5 ft. (42 in.) with at least 50 percent transparency, and side and rear fences up to 6 ft. (72 in.). Electric, barbed wire, and razor wire fences are prohibited outside of livestock, institutional security, and construction uses, and makeshift materials like plywood and loose corrugated metal are banned. Swimming pool areas must be enclosed by a 4 to 6 ft. self-latching fence (UDC 10.311.9.3). Corner lots must respect clear vision areas, and bufferyard or development perimeter walls may add requirements. Confirm easements and any overlay with the Development Services Department before building.
