Can I build a fence?

Yes, subject to Art. 5-2. In residential and agricultural districts, a front yard fence or wall is capped at 3 feet (open wire and chain link fencing is generally not allowed in a front yard, with a narrow legacy exception for lots in subdivisions recorded before 1975); side and rear yard fences may reach 6 feet. No wall, building, or obstruction over 2 feet may sit inside a corner lot's sight visibility triangle. A building permit is required for any fence taller than 6 feet, and masonry walls of at least 6 feet are required along interior boundaries next to a residential district, with mobile home subdivisions and parks requiring a 6 foot masonry perimeter wall. Confirm the zoning district on the city's zoning map or by calling Development Services at 623-932-3004.
