Can I build a fence in Celina?

Yes, subject to Sec. 14.04.305 and a permit for most work. Residential fences cap at 8 feet overall, and front yard fences and walls cap at 36 inches and must be split-rail, wrought iron, picket, or decorative masonry (lots over 1 acre are exempt with Director approval). Materials are generally limited to cedar or white wood (stained a natural tone) or black tubular steel; chain link, vinyl, split-rail, and composite materials need a Minor Modification. Barbed wire and electric fencing are prohibited except on agricultural land over 1 acre. Corner lots, reverse corner lots, and fences backing to a right-of-way have extra requirements for cedar board-on-board construction with a decorative cap.
