Can I build a fence?

Yes, within the Sec. 14.07.007 limits (Chapter 14, Site Development). Residential: rear and side setback fences up to 8 feet, built of wood, wrought iron, masonry, or similar permanently affixed material; in the front setback only up to 3 feet, unless your lot is over 20,000 square feet, where up to 6 feet is allowed, and any front fence over 3 feet must be wrought iron or similar open material. Fences along a public right-of-way face the finished side out, and fences meeting a subdivision wall must match its height (then may transition up to 8 feet). Nonresidential fences run 6 to 8 feet and must be masonry or an approved equivalent, finished both sides, with wrought iron or tubular steel required in the corridor overlay's front setback area. Barbed wire, razor wire, electric fences, and flammable materials are prohibited outside narrow agricultural, industrial, and security exceptions. Fences may not block drainage or sight triangles.
