All districts

A single-family or two-family dwelling needs 2 parking spaces per unit, on a parking strip, driveway, garage, or a combination on the premises (Table 13.06-A; Section 13.06.B.3).

  • Surfaces. Driveways and parking lots must be hard surfaced with concrete or asphalt. Gravel is not allowed. Permeable pavers are possible only for overflow or seasonal parking on the City Engineer's recommendation (Section 13.06.J.2).
  • A standard space is 9.5 by 19 feet at 90 degrees with a 24 foot aisle. Spaces at lesser angles must be 9 feet wide (Table 13.06-B).
  • Multiple-family: 1 space per efficiency unit and 2 spaces per other unit (Table 13.06-A).
  • Commercial headline ratios: retail 1 per 250 square feet of gross floor area, office 1 per 300, medical 1 per 200, standard restaurant 1 per 2 seats, fast food 1 per 70 square feet net (Table 13.06-A).
  • Paved areas must stay at least 10 feet from side and rear lines abutting residential (Section 13.06.C.3).
