All districts

A permit is required for any accessory building over 36 square feet in area or 4 feet in height (Section 7.03.A.2).

  • Attached garages count as part of the main building. Garage area is capped at 75 percent of the dwelling's ground-floor living area, and garage door height at 10 feet (Section 7.03.B.1).
  • Detached accessory buildings go in the rear yard only (Section 7.03.B.2.a). They may occupy at most 25 percent of the required rear yard (Section 7.03.B.2.b). Combined ground floor area is capped at 450 square feet plus 2 percent of the lot area, and may never exceed the dwelling's ground-floor footprint or 600 square feet, whichever is greater (Section 7.03.B.2.c). They must sit at least 10 feet from the main building and 6 feet from side and rear lot lines, at most 1 story and 14 feet tall (Section 7.03.B.2.d).
  • Sheds (accessory supplemental buildings) total at most 200 square feet, never in a front yard, 6 feet from side and rear lines, 1 story and 14 feet (Section 7.03.B.3).
  • Pools go in the rear yard, or a side yard behind the front of the house. Keep 5 feet from buildings and 6 feet from property lines to the pool wall (Section 7.03.B.4).

A lot may hold only one single-family or two-family dwelling (Section 7.02.B.1).
