All districts
Residential accessory structures (sheds, carports, detached garages) are permitted as an accessory use in all districts and transect zones (UDC 10.311.7.2). They cannot have separate electrical meters or kitchens; structures of at least 200 sq. ft. must be architecturally integrated with the house; pre-engineered metal buildings, metal carports, and shipping containers are prohibited (UDC 10.311.7.3). Bulk rules: prohibited in front of the house, cumulative floor area up to 25 percent of the yard where located, placed at least 10 ft. or their height from the primary structure, and structures of 200 sq. ft. or less are exempt from building permits and setback standards (UDC 10.403.4.2 notes). Accessory height is capped at 15 ft. in most residential districts.
