Fences or walls behind the required front yard line are capped at 8 feet 4 inches. No fence or wall is permitted within the required front yard of a single-family or duplex lot adjacent to a public street (no residential fence closer than 15 feet to a public street), except decorative fencing with at least 50 percent open area, up to 4 feet high (up to 6 feet for decorative ornamental iron in AG or on lots over 1 acre elsewhere). Electrical fencing and barbed wire are prohibited except to contain farm animals on parcels of 3 or more acres. All fences require a permit.

Where multi-family, nonresidential, or manufactured home development sides or backs onto a single-family, two-family, or residential PD district, a solid masonry screening wall 6 to 8 feet high is required on the shared property line, built and maintained by the multi-family/nonresidential/manufactured-home side.
