All districts

Solid fences are not allowed in the required front yard in any district except Mixed-Density Residential (MD) and Multi-Family Residential (MF), which require a 20-foot minimum setback for front fencing along the right-of-way. No fence may exceed 3 feet in height in the required front yard in any residential district, and no fence may sit in the required right-of-way or conflict with sight visibility triangles (Sec. 9.04.041(f)). Chain link fencing is allowed only on single-family residential lots and industrial sites. On corner lots with opposing rear lot lines, fences up to 96 inches (8 feet) are allowed along side and rear yard lines; where a rear lot line opposes a side lot line across an alley, or on key corner lots between front building lines and an abutting lot's side yard line, fencing is capped at 30 inches. General fence construction: minimum height 6 feet, maximum height 8 feet, from average lot grade, built of treated lumber on galvanized posts, or brick, stone, masonry, or vinyl with masonry columns every 8 feet (vinyl not allowed in multi-family areas). Every fenced enclosure needs at least one gate.
