Are chain-link or barbed-wire fences allowed in Southfield?
Residential rules allow vinyl coated chain-link fences in rear and side yards but prohibit uncoated chain link, chain-link slats, barbed wire, razor wire, and electric fences, except farms in single family districts may seek ZBA approval. Nonresidential rules require chain link to be vinyl coated. Barbed wire is limited to industrial zoning and must be over 7 feet above the ground.
