Do I need special approval for my use?

Check how Table 4.1.6 marks your use in your zoning district. P means permitted by right. P* means permitted but only if the use meets specific standards in Article 5, Chapter 10. CU means conditional use, reviewed and approved case by case under Article 5, Chapter 11's standards for that specific use type. SE means special exception, decided by the Hearing Examiner under Sec. 3.4.4, with additional site-suitability and comprehensive-plan-consistency findings required. A blank cell or a use not listed anywhere in the table, in an accessory-use category, or approved through a similar-use determination is treated as expressly prohibited (Sec. 4.1.6.A.5). Home-based businesses, for example, are always CU, never P, in every district that allows them. Confirm the exact classification for a specific use and district with City Planning before applying.
