Can I run a home business here?
Frisco defines a home occupation as an occupation secondary to a dwelling's use as a residence, conducted by the occupant on residential premises (a Bible study or similar gathering in a primary residence is specifically carved out of the definition). Home occupations are permitted subject to the conditions in Subsection 3.02.01(A)(24) of the Use Chart (corrected citation; an earlier version of this pack cited (A)(18)). This session fetched the real condition list directly: the business must be conducted entirely within the main building, produce no exterior evidence of the occupation, involve no separate entrance, allow at most 2 patron/business vehicles at a time with adequate off-street parking, allow at most 1 commercial vehicle of 1 ton capacity or less kept off the street, avoid regular large-truck deliveries, display no advertising signage, sell no ready inventory on-site except for specific exceptions like an author/artist/sculptor use, generate no more-than-residential traffic, employ no more than 2 people who are not residents of the home, and remain clearly secondary to the home's residential use. Confirm Subsection 3.02.01(A)(24) directly for the complete condition list, or call Frisco Planning and Zoning at 972-292-5301, before starting a home business. This pack covers incorporated Frisco only.
