Can I build a shed, garage, or other accessory structure?
Accessory structures and uses are governed by Sec. 14.02.107, with separate provisions for residential and nonresidential districts. In the industrial districts, accessory structures over 40 square feet require a permanent concrete foundation (Sec. 14.02.111 note E). Residential accessory structures must be subordinate, not rented, toward the rear, and no taller than the primary structure; accessory dwellings are subject to the Sec. 14.02.107(a)(2) conditions. A 2026-05-20 adopted zoning amendment affects some accessory-structure and swimming-pool figures, and the redline is ambiguous for changed setback numbers, so confirm the final adopted amendment text with Planning and Zoning before relying on garage, carport, pool, or side-lot-line setback details.
