Can I build a fence?

Yes, subject to Sec. 3.4.2.H for residential districts. Maximum height is 4 feet in a front yard or side-corner yard (up to 6 feet behind one-quarter of the building footprint depth), and 6 feet in side-interior and rear yards or along a subdivision's perimeter street frontage. The finished side of the fence must face outward toward neighbors and the street. Front-yard, side-corner, and subdivision-perimeter fences must be wood or vinyl picket, brick wall, or an ornamental fence (chain link is not allowed there, though it is allowed in side-interior or rear yards). New or replacement access-control fencing along a right-of-way must be black ornamental fence. Commercial and Employment/Campus districts have separate fence standards in Sec. 3.4.3.C. Confirm any subdivision or HOA restriction and easement locations with Development Services before building.
