Accessory uses and structures must be clearly incidental and subordinate to the principal use, on the same lot, and may not exceed 25 percent of the building's total square footage or 25 percent of the total land area used (Sec. 4.5.2). No accessory use or structure may be established before the principal use has its required permits. Accessory structures in residential districts must use materials and colors similar to the main dwelling; portable storage containers such as PODS are prohibited as a permanent use in residential districts, and in non-residential districts are only allowed in the rear yard behind the principal building (Sec. 4.5.3). Single-family recreational accessory uses (pools, hot tubs, tennis/basketball/volleyball courts) must meet the State Building Code plus Sec. 5.2.7 dimensional standards, Sec. 4.5.2.C operation standards, and the fence rules in Sec. 8.2.7 (Sec. 4.5.4).
