All districts

Signs are regulated citywide by Section 28.13. Highlights: freestanding signs must be monument style and are capped at 15 feet of height; in the commercial, office, and industrial districts their size is capped at 1 square foot per 2 linear feet of street frontage, up to 150 square feet (Section 28.13.K.D). Wall signage in those districts is capped at 10 percent of the structure frontage area, never more than 200 square feet (Section 28.13.K.N). Window signs may cover up to 25 percent of the glass on a facade, capped at 150 square feet (Section 28.13.K.O).

On single family properties, permanent freestanding signs are prohibited apart from subdivision identification signs; temporary signs are limited to 3 square feet (short-term) or 6 square feet (long-term), 9 square feet total, 5 feet tall (Section 28.13.K.D.7, L.10). Billboards are not permitted in the city (Section 28.13.K.B.5). Prohibited everywhere: roof signs, projecting signs, festoon signs, flashing or animated signs, and portable signs kept stationary in public view (Section 28.13.G). Electronic message boards may occupy up to one-third of a freestanding sign under strict dimming and 10 second hold rules (Section 28.13.H.6). Home occupations may not display any sign (Section 3.03.D.5). Temporary signs in nonresidential districts and on vacant parcels must be registered with the city before installation (Section 28.13.L.13).
