General office parking is 4 spaces per 1,000 square feet of gross floor area. Medical office parking is 5 spaces per 1,000 square feet of gross floor area. Retail and commercial parking is generally 4 spaces per 1,000 square feet of gross floor area, with separate shopping-center ratios in the table (Section 5.30).

Residential parking must be on the premises through a parking strip, driveway, garage, or combination. Single-family and two-family dwellings require 2 parking spaces per dwelling unit. Multi-family housing requires 1.5 spaces per dwelling unit with two bedrooms or fewer, 2 spaces per dwelling unit with three or more bedrooms, plus 1 space per employee on the maximum shift (Sections 5.29 and 5.30).

Every nonresidential and multi-family development must provide at least 4 bicycle parking spaces. The City Planner may credit one vehicle parking space for each bike rack that holds four bicycles, up to 5 percent of the total required parking. Parking more than 20 percent above the minimum requires City approval based on a parking study or other documented evidence for a typical day (Section 5.29).
