All districts

Residential uses in residential zoning districts: signs are prohibited except for the specific types listed in Sec. 7.4.1 (for example, one on-site sign up to 4 square feet and 5 feet tall for a single-family lot; larger allowances for qualifying multi-family and development identification signs). A sign permit is required only if the sign has a foundation or electrical connection (Sec. 7.4.1 table). Non-residential uses in any district: no numeric limit on the count of building signs, but cumulative building sign area is capped using a sliding linear-footage formula based on the building's street frontage (2 sq. ft. per linear foot up to 100 feet of frontage, declining to 0.75 sq. ft. per linear foot beyond 300 feet, capped at 300 square feet total) (Sec. 7.2.5.B). A long list of sign types is prohibited outright citywide, including flashing, rotating, animated (except approved electronic message centers), portable, roof, off-site, and vehicle signs (Sec. 7.2.1). Nonconforming signs and sign deviations are addressed in Sec. 7.2.7 and Sec. 7.2.8. Sign permits generally are required per Sec. 7.2.6; exact permit fee and submittal detail is review-gated.
