Home-based occupations are permitted as an accessory use in all residential districts (Sec. 6.4.A). Standards: no more than 25 percent of the primary structure's gross floor area may be used for the business; the operator must be a full-time resident; only one non-resident employee is allowed, and only on lots zoned R1-35 or larger; no exterior sign larger than 3 square feet, non-illuminated; no more than 5 clients per day for most business types (also 5 or fewer for music, art, sports, or similar lessons); customer hours limited to 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; all storage and equipment use must be inside an enclosed building; no hazardous materials on site; parking only in the driveway or garage/carport, with no overnight on-street parking; and no perceptible dust, odor, noise, vibration, or electrical interference beyond the property line (Sec. 6.4). Home day care is capped at 6 or fewer children in all districts, or up to 12 children in R1-35 and larger districts.
