NC — Neighborhood Commercial

Total aggregate sign area for one organization is capped at 100 square feet, and at 1.5 square feet per 2 linear feet of street or store frontage, maximum 32 square feet per organization. One freestanding identification sign is permitted per development per street frontage, maximum 6 feet in height. Any single building development over 25,000 square feet must submit a comprehensive sign plan for administrative use permit review.

All districts

Residential and rural districts: only one sign per individual unit or dwelling; a maximum of two freestanding monument signs per development; maximum one wall sign and one monument sign (or, on a corner lot, two wall signs, one per street frontage, plus one monument sign). Within RH, RM, and RMHP districts specifically: a maximum of two freestanding monument identification signs with an aggregate area of 24 square feet and maximum height of 5 feet, located near the main entrance. Nonresidential uses in a residential district (assembly uses, schools, public buildings, assisted living over 5 persons, farms; not home occupations): one wall-mounted sign per lot up to 32 square feet, and one freestanding monument sign up to 32 square feet and 5 feet in height; complexes over 15,000 square feet gross floor area may submit a comprehensive sign plan. Subdivision entryway signs: up to two entryway wall or monument locations per arterial roadway frontage, maximum aggregate 48 square feet per subdivision.

Commercial and industrial districts: total aggregate sign area per organization capped at 100 square feet; sign area per organization or tenant capped at 1.5 square feet per 2 linear feet of street or store frontage, maximum 32 square feet. Buildings under 25,000 square feet gross floor area get one wall or building sign per organization (one per street frontage on corner lots); signage may not extend more than 50 percent of the building wall width. One freestanding identification sign is permitted per development per street frontage, maximum 6 feet tall and, for a single-tenant building, the same 1.5 sq ft/2 linear ft formula (max 32 square feet). Multi-building commercial centers: one sign per lot with 100 feet of street frontage, plus one additional freestanding sign per 300 feet of frontage beyond 100 feet, minimum 300 feet between signs on the same frontage, each up to 8 feet high and 48 square feet. Drive-through signage is capped at 48 square feet total and 6 feet in height per drive-through area. Complexes of two or more organizations, or single buildings over 5,000 square feet, may submit a comprehensive sign plan; buildings over 25,000 square feet must submit one for administrative use permit review.
